Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is an investigational combination of the phytocannabinoids tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV) and cannabidiol (CBD), formulated as mucoadhesive oral strips. Developed by Medical Life Care Planners, LLC, the product is intended for the treatment of obesity and metabolic syndrome. THCV acts as a neutral antagonist at the cannabinoid receptor type 1 (CB1), while CBD serves as a negative allosteric modulator of the same receptor. Together, these compounds aim to regulate energy homeostasis and appetite. A Phase 1 clinical trial (NCT05574049) evaluating two different daily doses demonstrated statistically significant reductions in body weight, abdominal girth, systolic blood pressure, and cholesterol levels in obese adults over a 90-day period.
