TetraLens

**TetraLens** is an investigational, tetracaine hydrochloride-releasing therapeutic bandage contact lens intended to provide short-term topical ocular analgesia after photorefractive keratectomy. The drug-device product uses a methafilcon A bandage contact lens as a sustained local delivery vehicle for tetracaine, an ester local anesthetic that reversibly blocks voltage-gated sodium channels in sensory nerves, reducing neuronal sodium influx and preventing pain-signal initiation and conduction. A randomized, single-center Early Phase 1 study sponsored by Vance Thompson Vision evaluated one-eye use of TetraLens for six postoperative days versus a contralateral control lens in patients undergoing PRK.
