Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TetraSOD is a branded, highly concentrated marine microalgae ingredient derived from the species Tetraselmis chuii. It is distinguished by its extremely high content of the antioxidant enzyme superoxide dismutase (SOD), achieved through a proprietary, patent-protected cultivation process. TetraSOD contains a full spectrum of endogenous antioxidant enzymes (SOD, catalase, glutathione peroxidase), along with polyunsaturated fatty acids, polyphenols, essential amino acids, minerals, and vitamins. Its mechanism of action is largely based on enhancing antioxidant and anti-inflammatory pathways, with demonstrated effects on upregulating endogenous antioxidant enzyme gene expression, activating cellular antioxidant responses, and modulating immune and anti-inflammatory cascades. Preclinical and emerging clinical data support its utility in addressing oxidative stress, metabolic syndrome, and male infertility.
