Overview

Tetraxim + ActHIB is a combination vaccine regimen developed by Sanofi for the active immunization of infants and children against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, poliomyelitis, and invasive diseases caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b. Tetraxim is a quadrivalent vaccine containing diphtheria and tetanus toxoids, acellular pertussis antigens (pertussis toxoid and filamentous hemagglutinin), and inactivated poliovirus types 1, 2, and 3. ActHIB is a conjugate vaccine consisting of the Haemophilus influenzae type b capsular polysaccharide (PRP) coupled to tetanus protein. The two vaccines are typically administered together, either by using Tetraxim to reconstitute the lyophilized ActHIB or by simultaneous injection at separate sites. This combination provides a pentavalent immunization schedule to reduce the number of injections required for primary and booster series.
