Overview

Tetrocarcin-A is a natural spirotetronate antibiotic isolated from *Micromonospora chalcea* with potent antitumor and antibacterial activities. It acts as an inhibitor of the anti-apoptotic function of Bcl-2 (B-cell lymphoma 2). Additionally, tetrocarcin-A has been shown to downregulate junctional adhesion molecule-A (JAM-A), estrogen receptor alpha (ERα), human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2), and inhibitor of apoptosis proteins (IAPs). It induces caspase-dependent apoptosis and suppresses tumor cell growth in various preclinical models, including breast and lung cancers.
