Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tetronine is an oral formulation of triiodothyronine (T3), a thyroid hormone, developed by Dalim Biotech Korea. It is used to supplement thyroid hormone levels in infants and children undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass for congenital heart defects, particularly in populations with high rates of malnutrition. The drug aims to prevent decreased serum T3 levels, a condition known as euthyroid sick syndrome, which is associated with low cardiac output syndrome after heart surgery. By increasing thyroid hormone levels, Tetronine is intended to improve cardiac function, respiration, and diuresis, thereby enhancing recovery and potentially shortening the time spent on mechanical ventilation.
