Overview

Tetroxoprim is a synthetic antibiotic of the diaminopyrimidine class and a structural derivative of trimethoprim. It acts as a selective inhibitor of bacterial dihydrofolate reductase, thereby disrupting folate synthesis in bacteria and inhibiting DNA and RNA production. Tetroxoprim has been used experimentally, often in combination with sulfadiazine (as co-tetroxazine), for the treatment of susceptible bacterial infections[2][3][5][7][8].
