Overview

TEV-285 is a biosimilar monoclonal antibody candidate developed by Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, currently in preclinical development. It is designed as a biosimilar to the reference product Perjeta (pertuzumab), which targets the human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2). TEV-285 specifically binds to the extracellular dimerization domain (subdomain II) of HER2, sterically hindering its ability to form heterodimers with other members of the HER family, such as EGFR, HER3, and HER4. This inhibition of dimerization prevents the activation of downstream signaling pathways, including the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) pathways, which are critical for the proliferation and survival of HER2-overexpressing cancer cells. The primary intended indication for TEV-285 is the treatment of HER2-positive breast cancer.
