TEV-292 (also known as TEV-50292) is a biosimilar candidate developed by Teva Pharmaceuticals, referencing the humanized monoclonal antibody ustekinumab (Stelara). The drug is designed to bind with high affinity to the p40 subunit shared by the cytokines interleukin-12 (IL-12) and interleukin-23 (IL-23). By inhibiting these cytokines, TEV-292 prevents their interaction with the IL-12Rβ1 receptor protein on the surface of immune cells, thereby blocking the signaling pathways that lead to the activation of T-cells and the subsequent inflammatory cascade. This mechanism is intended to treat various autoimmune and inflammatory conditions, including plaque psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, Crohn's disease, and ulcerative colitis. As of current pipeline reports, TEV-292 is in the preclinical stage of development.
