Overview

TEV-53408 is a humanized monoclonal antibody developed by Teva Pharmaceutical Industries. It is designed to block interleukin-15 (IL-15), a cytokine implicated in the pathogenesis of celiac disease and other immune-mediated conditions. By inhibiting IL-15, TEV-53408 aims to prevent intestinal inflammation and tissue damage that occur when individuals with celiac disease ingest gluten. The drug is administered via subcutaneous injection and has been shown in early studies to be safe, well-tolerated, and capable of reducing serum IL-15 levels as well as circulating natural killer (NK) cell counts without affecting NK cell function[1][2][4][5][6]. Clinical development includes phase 2 trials for celiac disease and phase 1 trials for vitiligo[2][3][5].
