Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TEV-749 is an investigational once-monthly subcutaneous long-acting injectable (LAI) formulation of the second-generation (atypical) antipsychotic olanzapine. Developed using Medincell’s proprietary SteadyTeq copolymer technology, it provides a controlled and steady release of olanzapine over a month. The drug is designed to improve adherence in adults with schizophrenia by offering a convenient monthly injection as an alternative to daily oral dosing or intramuscular LAIs that carry risks such as post-injection delirium/sedation syndrome (PDSS). In Phase 3 clinical trials (SOLARIS), TEV-749 demonstrated significant improvements in schizophrenia symptoms—measured by the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS), Clinical Global Impression-Severity scale (CGI-S), and Personal and Social Performance scale (PSP)—with no reported cases of PDSS. The safety profile was consistent with other approved formulations of olanzapine[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8].
