The Tezcat Imaging Program, originally developed by Tezcat Biosciences and subsequently out-licensed to IllumaRAS, is a protein-drug conjugate (PDC) platform designed for the diagnostic visualization of RAS-activated cancers. The technology utilizes a fibronectin monobody scaffold that exploits macropinocytosis—a hyperactive nutrient-scavenging process characteristic of cells with oncogenic RAS mutations (including KRAS, NRAS, and HRAS). By delivering imaging payloads such as fluorescent dyes or radioactive isotopes rather than cytotoxic agents, the platform enables real-time tumor detection and visualization. This receptor-independent delivery mechanism is intended for applications such as intraoperative surgical guidance and monitoring of disease progression in RAS-driven malignancies. The program is currently in preclinical development.
