Overview

Tezepelumab is a first-in-class human monoclonal antibody (IgG2λ) that targets and blocks thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP), an epithelial cell-derived cytokine implicated in the pathogenesis of asthma. By binding to TSLP and preventing its interaction with the TSLP receptor complex, tezepelumab inhibits a key upstream driver of airway inflammation. It is approved as an add-on maintenance treatment for severe asthma in patients aged 12 years and older whose disease is not controlled with standard therapies. Tezepelumab is unique among biologics for severe asthma because it has no phenotype or biomarker limitations within its approved label; it can be used regardless of eosinophilic or allergic status. The drug is administered by subcutaneous injection every four weeks. Tezepelumab was developed by Amgen and AstraZeneca[1][3][5][6][8].
