TF-KLH is a synthetic cancer vaccine composed of the Thomsen-Friedenreich (TF) disaccharide antigen covalently linked to keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH), a highly immunogenic carrier protein derived from the marine mollusk Megathura crenulata. The vaccine is designed to induce an immune response against the TF antigen, which is overexpressed on mucins in colorectal carcinoma and other epithelial cancers. By presenting the tumor-associated carbohydrate antigen in a highly immunogenic form, TF-KLH aims to stimulate both IgM and IgG antibody responses that may target cancer cells expressing this epitope. Clinical studies have evaluated its use in patients at high risk for recurrent colon cancer following surgical resection[3][7].
