Overview

TFAM siRNA is a small interfering RNA designed to silence the expression of Transcription Factor A, Mitochondrial (TFAM). TFAM is a key regulator of mitochondrial DNA transcription and replication, and its overexpression has been linked to metabolic plasticity and cisplatin resistance in bladder cancer. By knocking down TFAM, the siRNA reduces the population of aggressive, stem-like, drug-resistant side population (SP) cells and depletes mitochondrial DNA. This intervention has been shown to synergize with cisplatin treatment in bladder cancer cell lines, potentially overcoming non-mutation-mediated chemoresistance.
