TFF2-MSA is a recombinant fusion protein consisting of murine Trefoil Factor Family 2 (TFF2) linked to Mouse Serum Albumin (MSA). It is designed as a long-acting surrogate for the human therapeutic candidate TNX-1700 (TFF2-HSA) to extend the circulating half-life of the TFF2 peptide. TFF2 is a gastric-derived peptide that plays a critical role in mucosal protection and the regulation of immune responses. In the context of aging and gastric cancer, a decline in TFF2 levels leads to an inflammaging phenotype characterized by increased IL-1β production and the expansion of myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs). TFF2-MSA acts to restore youthful TFF2 levels, thereby suppressing the IL-1β-driven inflammatory axis, reducing MDSC accumulation, and inhibiting the activation of pro-tumorigenic cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) and sensory nerves. It is being developed by Tonix Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of gastric cancer and other solid tumors.
