Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TfR-aC1s is a preclinical-stage bispecific monoclonal antibody developed by Sanofi for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease and other complement-mediated neurological disorders. It consists of an antibody targeting activated C1s (aC1s), a serine protease in the classical complement pathway, paired with a transferrin receptor (TfR)-binding domain that acts as a molecular shuttle to facilitate transport across the blood-brain barrier (BBB). By selectively inhibiting activated C1s within the central nervous system, TfR-aC1s aims to prevent classical complement pathway activation, preserve synapses, and reduce neuroinflammation, offering a potential therapeutic approach for neurodegenerative diseases.
