TFX1 is a selective, ribosomally-synthesized, post-translationally modified peptide antibiotic, produced by the bacterium *Rhizobium leguminosarum bv. trifolii T24*. It is one of two geometric isomers of Trifolitoxin (TFX), derived from an inactive primary amino acid sequence. TFX1 specifically inhibits α-proteobacteria, including plant symbionts like *Rhizobium spp.*, plant pathogens such as *Agrobacterium spp.*, and animal pathogens like *Brucella abortus*. Its biological activity is dependent on post-translational modifications, which include the formation of a thiazoline ring from Gly-Cys and a blue fluorescent chromophore from a modified Arg-Gln-Gly sequence. TFX2, another isomer, has been found to be significantly more active than TFX1.
