Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TFZ16 is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody targeting Basigin (CD147), currently under development by Henan Taifeng Medical Technology Group for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke. CD147 is a transmembrane glycoprotein that is significantly upregulated following ischemic injury and acts as a potent inducer of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), which contribute to blood-brain barrier breakdown and neuroinflammation. By specifically binding to and neutralizing CD147, TFZ16 is designed to suppress the inflammatory response and reduce secondary brain damage, potentially improving functional recovery in patients. It is administered via intravenous injection and has progressed into Phase 2 clinical trials in China, representing a novel therapeutic approach that targets the inflammatory cascade rather than thrombolysis.
