Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TG103 + metformin is a pharmaceutical combination therapy under investigation for treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. TG103 is a novel long-acting glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist designed as a GLP-1/Fc fusion protein, developed to improve glycemic control. Its mechanism complements metformin, a first-line, oral antihyperglycemic agent that reduces hepatic glucose production and improves peripheral glucose uptake. The combination is aimed at patients with inadequate glycemic control on metformin monotherapy, leveraging the synergistic effects of enhanced insulin secretion (via GLP-1R agonism) and improved insulin sensitivity. TG103 + metformin is also being studied against dulaglutide in active phase 3 trials[1][4][7].
