TGF-beta-15 peptide vaccine is an experimental therapeutic cancer vaccine developed by researchers at the Center for Cancer Immune Therapy (CCIT-DK) at Herlev Hospital, part of Region Hovedstaden. The vaccine is composed of a specific 15-amino acid peptide sequence derived from Transforming Growth Factor beta (TGF-beta), a potent immunosuppressive cytokine that is frequently overexpressed in the tumor microenvironment of various malignancies, including pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. The vaccine is designed to stimulate the patient's immune system, specifically inducing a T-cell mediated response against cells that express and secrete TGF-beta. By targeting these immunosuppressive cells, such as regulatory T cells and cancer-associated fibroblasts, the vaccine aims to alleviate immune evasion and enhance the overall anti-tumor immune response. It is currently being investigated in clinical trials for patients with resected pancreatic cancer, typically administered subcutaneously in combination with the adjuvant Montanide ISA-51.
