Overview
TH001-Arteclere (also known as TH001, ICI-170809, or ZM-170809) is an oral small molecule 5-HT2A (serotonin 2A receptor) antagonist being developed by Thromboserin as a novel antiplatelet therapy. Originally discovered by Imperial Chemical Industries (later Zeneca/AstraZeneca) for central nervous system disorders, the compound was repurposed by Thromboserin for the prevention and treatment of arterial thrombosis. Unlike conventional antiplatelet agents, TH001-Arteclere is designed to inhibit arterial thrombus formation without affecting haemostasis or increasing the risk of bleeding. The drug has completed Phase 1 clinical trials and is ready for Phase 2 proof-of-concept development for indications such as thrombosis and acute ischaemic syndrome, with potential future expansion into thrombotic stroke, vascular occlusive disease, vascular dementia, and diabetes complications.
