Overview

A combination therapy consisting of thalidomide, interferon (specifically alpha-interferon), and octreotide. This regimen has been investigated primarily for the treatment of unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma. Thalidomide contributes anti-angiogenic properties by suppressing vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and modulating immune responses. Interferon provides immunomodulatory effects, while octreotide (a somatostatin analogue) may reduce gastrointestinal blood flow and potentially has anti-angiogenic properties. Despite having a favorable toxicity profile, clinical trials have shown this combination has limited efficacy in hepatocellular carcinoma.
