thalidomide + melphalan + cyclophosphamide + dexamethasone

A combination therapy regimen used in the treatment of multiple myeloma. This regimen combines four active agents: thalidomide (an immunomodulatory drug that affects cell processes, stops cancer cells from developing, prevents blood vessel formation, and stimulates immune cells to attack myeloma cells), melphalan (an alkylating chemotherapy agent), cyclophosphamide (an alkylating agent that destroys rapidly dividing cells), and dexamethasone (a corticosteroid that enhances the effectiveness of chemotherapy). This combination may be used in various settings including newly diagnosed multiple myeloma patients who are either eligible or ineligible for autologous stem cell transplantation.
