Drug intelligence / Profile preview
THBP2 is a novel synthetic tetrahydrobenzopyran derivative, specifically belonging to a series of 2-(toluene sulfonamido)-3-cyano-7,7-dimethyl-4-substituted phenyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydrobenzopyran-5-one derivatives. Developed by researchers at Manglayatan University and St. Mary's College of Pharmacy, THBP2 was synthesized via a Knoevenagel condensation followed by a Michael addition mechanism. It has been evaluated in vitro for its cytotoxic and antiproliferative activity against MCF-7 breast cancer cells using the MTT assay, representing an early-stage preclinical candidate for breast cancer therapy.
