THBS2 siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of the Thrombospondin-2 (THBS2) gene. THBS2 is a secreted glycoprotein involved in cell-matrix interactions and has been identified as a key driver of inflammation and fibrogenic remodeling in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) and various cancers. By targeting THBS2 mRNA for degradation, this siRNA reduces THBS2 protein levels, thereby inhibiting the activation of macrophages and hepatic stellate cells via integrin alpha 5 signaling. While primarily used as a research tool, hepatocyte-targeted versions (e.g., GalNAc-conjugated) are being explored in preclinical models for the treatment of MASH and liver fibrosis.
