Drug intelligence / Profile preview
THDBH110 is an investigational small molecule agonist of the G protein-coupled receptor 40 (GPR40), also known as free fatty acid receptor 1 (FFAR1), being developed by Dongbao Zixing (Hangzhou) Biopharmaceutical, a subsidiary of Tonghua Dongbao Pharmaceutical. Designed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, THDBH110 targets receptors primarily expressed in pancreatic beta cells. Its mechanism of action involves enhancing glucose-stimulated insulin secretion (GSIS) in a glucose-dependent manner, which potentially offers improved glycemic control with a reduced risk of hypoglycemia compared to traditional insulin secretagogues like sulfonylureas. The drug is currently in early-stage clinical development in China.
