THDBH120 is a novel synthetic peptide drug under development as a dual agonist of the glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor and the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor. Developed by Dongbao Zixing (Hangzhou) Biopharmaceutical, a subsidiary of Tonghua Dongbao Pharmaceutical, it is designed to integrate the effects of both incretins into a single polypeptide monomer with enhanced metabolic stability. The drug aims to provide synergistic benefits for blood glucose control, weight loss, and lipid metabolism in patients with type 2 diabetes or obesity who have not responded adequately to single-target therapies or compounded preparations. Clinical trials have demonstrated good safety and tolerability profiles, with gastrointestinal side effects similar to other drugs in this class. Its half-life is reported to be significantly longer than that of tirzepatide—a comparable dual GLP-1/GIP agonist—suggesting potential for less frequent dosing. As of mid-2025, THDBH120 has completed Phase Ib clinical trials for both type 2 diabetes and obesity indications in China and has advanced into Phase II studies[1][2][4][5][6][7][8].
