Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TheraCal is a resin-modified calcium silicate dental material developed and manufactured by BISCO Inc. It is primarily used in vital pulp therapy, including direct and indirect pulp capping and pulpotomy procedures for teeth affected by dental caries. The material is designed to be moisture-tolerant and radiopaque, facilitating its use as a protective liner and base. Its therapeutic effect is derived from the release of calcium ions and the maintenance of an alkaline pH, which together promote the formation of a reparative dentin bridge and support the healing of the dental pulp. TheraCal is available in two main formulations: TheraCal LC, which is light-cured, and TheraCal PT, which is dual-cured and specifically indicated for pulpotomy.
