Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TheraCal LC is a light-cured, resin-modified calcium silicate-filled material used as a protective liner and for pulp capping in restorative dentistry. Developed by BISCO, it is designed to act as a barrier to the dental pulp complex. The material's unique hydrophilic resin formulation allows for the sustained release of calcium and hydroxide ions, which creates an alkaline environment that stimulates the formation of hydroxyapatite and reparative dentin (a dentin bridge). This process helps maintain pulp vitality and provides a seal against microleakage. It is frequently evaluated in clinical trials, such as those conducted by Cairo University, for its efficacy in indirect pulp treatment of primary molars compared to traditional materials like calcium hydroxide.
