Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Therafeldamine is a brand name for a combination product or kit primarily indicated for the management of pain and inflammatory conditions. One specific formulation, marketed as a kit, contains Piroxicam, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), and Theramine, which is described as a medical food. Piroxicam exerts its therapeutic effects by inhibiting prostaglandin synthetase, thereby reducing inflammation, pain, and fever. Theramine, containing active ingredients such as Arginine and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), is formulated for the dietary management of metabolic processes associated with pain disorders and inflammatory conditions. Clinical trials have investigated Theramine's efficacy in reducing inflammation and improving low back pain. An earlier product also bearing the name Therafeldamine, a "Convenience Pack" containing antihistamines and decongestants for allergic rhinitis and common cold symptoms, was marketed but has been off the market since December 2014. The current focus for the name Therafeldamine appears to be on the pain and inflammation kit.
