Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TheraHoney HD is a medical-grade wound dressing impregnated with 100% sterile Manuka honey, derived from the *Leptospermum scoparium* plant in New Zealand. Developed and manufactured by Medline Industries, it is designed for the management of chronic and acute wounds, including pressure injuries, leg ulcers, and burns. The dressing works through osmotic action; the high sugar content of the honey creates an osmotic gradient that draws fluid from deeper tissues to the wound surface, facilitating autolytic debridement of necrotic tissue and maintaining a moist healing environment. TheraHoney HD specifically features a higher honey load (200% more than standard TheraHoney sheets) and a porous, fenestrated design to allow exudate to pass through to a secondary dressing.
