Cellvie is developing Therapeutic Mitochondria Transplantation (TMT), a novel organelle-based therapy designed to restore cellular energy metabolism in cells with compromised mitochondrial function. The therapy involves the delivery of viable, functional mitochondria—isolated from tissue or cell samples—into target cells, where they are internalized via endocytosis. This approach is primarily aimed at mitigating ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) by restoring ATP production and reducing oxidative stress. Cellvie's lead program is focused on IRI in kidney transplantation, for which it has received FDA Orphan Drug Designation and is preparing for Phase I/IIa clinical trials. The platform is also being explored for applications in cardiac surgery, myocardial infarction, and various aging-related degenerative diseases, including Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.
