Theraprofen

**Theraprofen** is a prescription co-packaged oral product developed by Targeted Medical Pharma and marketed through Physician Therapeutics. It contains ibuprofen tablets, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, together with Theramine capsules, a proprietary medical food intended for dietary management of metabolic processes associated with pain disorders and inflammatory conditions. Ibuprofen provides analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity through reversible, nonselective inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzymes and consequent reduction of prostaglandin synthesis; Theramine is intended to provide nutritional support for pain-related metabolic and neurotransmitter pathways. Theraprofen was evaluated in a Phase 4 randomized, double-blind study in chronic low back pain. The product was listed in DailyMed as an unapproved drug product.
