Overview
TheraVax (also known as PBS Vax HIV Vaccine) is a therapeutic vaccine candidate developed by Auro Vaccines in collaboration with the NIH Division of AIDS. It is designed to enhance HIV-specific immunity in HIV-infected adults who are already receiving combination antiretroviral therapy (cART). The vaccine utilizes a heterologous prime-boost regimen, combining a GeneVax DNA prime with a VesiculoVax viral-vector boost. The VesiculoVax platform leverages modified negative-strand, non-segmented RNA viruses to safely deliver vaccine immunogens. Unlike prophylactic vaccines, TheraVax is intended to stimulate and augment the patient's immune response against the virus during ongoing treatment, potentially contributing to long-term viral control or a functional cure.
