Overview

**Thevebioside** is a bioactive cardiac glycoside classified as a cardenolide and naturally occurs in *Thevetia* species, particularly in seeds and vegetative parts[5]. It is a monoglycoside, structurally related to neriifolin and thevetin, and considered a degradation product or biosynthetic precursor to other, more complex trioside glycosides[5]. Recent studies have demonstrated that thevebioside can promote ubiquitin-mediated degradation of Steroid Receptor Coactivator-3 (SRC-3), thereby inhibiting the IGF-1R-PI3K-AKT signaling pathway and inducing apoptosis in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells[1][3]. The compound’s principal mechanism involves targeting SRC-3 for proteasomal degradation, resulting in anti-tumor effects with minimal observed toxicity in cellular and animal models. Throughout history, the plant-derived compound has also been studied for its potential cardiac effects linked to its glycoside structure[5].
