Thiamine + riboflavin is a combination of two water-soluble B vitamins—thiamine (vitamin B1) and riboflavin (vitamin B2)—used primarily as part of multivitamin formulations to prevent or treat deficiencies due to poor diet, certain illnesses, alcoholism, pregnancy, or conditions causing increased requirements. Thiamine acts as a coenzyme in carbohydrate metabolism and neural function; deficiency can lead to beriberi or Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome. Riboflavin functions as a precursor for flavoproteins involved in redox reactions essential for energy production and cellular function; deficiency may cause ariboflavinosis with symptoms like sore throat and mucosal lesions. The combination is often administered orally or parenterally (as an injection) in clinical settings where rapid correction of deficiency is needed[2][3][6]. It is commonly found alongside other B vitamins in "B complex" products.
