Overview

Thiazolidinediones-E is a novel thiazolidine-2,4-dione derivative designed and synthesized as an anti-hyperglycemic and anti-hyperlipidemic agent. It belongs to a series of (2,4-dioxo-1,3-thiazolidin-5-yl)methylphenylbenzamide derivatives that feature an amide linkage between a central aryl ring and a hydrophobic tail. In preclinical in-vivo studies, the compound demonstrated significant blood glucose and triglyceride lowering activities comparable to the standard drug pioglitazone. Its mechanism of action involves the activation of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR-gamma), as supported by computational docking studies.
