Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ThisCART19 is a universal CAR-T cell therapy developed by Fundamenta Therapeutics. It is designed to target CD19, a protein expressed on the surface of B cells. The therapy involves engineering T cells to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) that specifically binds to CD19, enabling the modified T cells to recognize and eliminate malignant B cells. This approach is primarily intended for the treatment of hematological malignancies such as AIDS-related lymphoma and various forms of CD19-positive B-cell lymphomas, including recurrent cases. The mechanism of action involves inhibition of B-lymphocyte antigen CD19, leading to targeted destruction of cancerous or abnormal B cells[1]. As a universal CAR-T product, it may be derived from allogeneic sources rather than autologous patient material.
