THM401 is an investigational small molecule beta-lactamase inhibitor (BLI) developed by Chengdu Tetrahedron Drug Research for the treatment of serious infections caused by Gram-negative bacteria. It is primarily intended for use in combination with ceftazidime, a third-generation cephalosporin, to address resistance mediated by beta-lactamase production. The combination therapy is being evaluated for indications such as complicated urinary tract infections (cUTI) and pyelonephritis. THM401 is administered via intravenous injection. As of 2024, it is undergoing Phase I clinical trials in China to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetic profile in healthy volunteers, both as a single agent and in combination with ceftazidime.
