Overview
THOR-017 is an anti-GFRAL (GDNF family receptor alpha-like) monoclonal antibody (IgG1) being developed by THOR Therapeutics (a KAIST spin-off biopharmaceutical company, also known as THOR Biopharma) for the treatment of cancer cachexia and as an immuno-oncology (IO) booster. It is designed to target and block the D3 domain of GFRAL, which is the binding site for the RET co-receptor. By doing so, it inhibits the formation of the GDF15-GFRAL-RET signaling complex and halts downstream pathogenic signaling at its source. This mechanism is distinct from GDF15-neutralizing antibodies, which act upstream in circulation. THOR-017 is currently in IND-enabling studies.
