THR-100 is a novel recombinant fibrinolytic agent, a 136 amino acid single-chain protein secreted by certain strains of *Staphylococcus aureus* and produced via recombinant DNA technology. Developed by Bharat Biotech International Limited, it functions by forming an equimolar complex with plasmin, which in turn activates plasminogen to plasmin. Unlike streptokinase, THR-100 exhibits a high degree of fibrin-selectivity in human plasma, primarily due to potent activation at the clot surface by trace amounts of plasmin and rapid inactivation of the circulating complex by antiplasmin. This characteristic makes it a promising alternative therapy, particularly for conditions such as acute myocardial infarction.
