Injectable thrombopoietin (TPO) mimetic (specifically QG01) is a recombinant fusion protein being developed by Shandong Quangang Pharmaceutical for the treatment of primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). As a TPO receptor agonist, it mimics the action of endogenous thrombopoietin by binding to and activating the TPO receptor (MPL) on the surface of megakaryocytes and their precursors. This activation triggers intracellular signaling pathways that promote the proliferation and differentiation of megakaryocytes, ultimately increasing platelet production. The drug is currently in Phase Ib/II clinical development in China, targeting adult patients with persistent or chronic primary ITP who have not responded adequately to previous treatments.
