Drug intelligence / Profile preview
THRX-108893 is the primary carboxylate metabolite of AZD-3043, a novel, metabolically-labile sedative/hypnotic agent. THRX-108893 itself **does not exhibit hypnotic or sedative activity in preclinical animal models**, and is considered pharmacologically inactive as a hypnotic agent. It is formed following rapid hepatic or blood metabolism of AZD-3043 across multiple species. In radioligand binding and electrophysiological studies, THRX-108893 did not modulate GABA\(_A\) receptor function, distinguishing it from its parent compound AZD-3043, which acts as a positive allosteric modulator of GABA\(_A\) receptors. THRX-108893 is primarily used as a reference analyte in pharmacokinetic and metabolic stability studies of AZD-3043, including human clinical trials focused on anesthesia or sedation[1][3][4][5].
