Overview

THV01-2 is one of two lentiviral vector-based components (alongside THV01-1) that together comprise the therapeutic vaccine candidate known as THV01. Developed by Theravectys, this investigational product is designed as a non-replicative, self-inactivating lentiviral vector encoding HIV antigens (notably Gag, Pol, and Nef proteins from HIV-1 clade B). The vaccine aims to induce a robust and durable cellular immune response against HIV-infected cells in patients already receiving highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART). The intended effect is to achieve long-term control of viral replication—potentially allowing patients to interrupt or discontinue HAART while maintaining normal CD4+ T cell counts (“functional cure”). In clinical trials, the two components (THV01-1 and THV01-2) are administered intramuscularly eight weeks apart[1][4][6].
