THX-150 is a preclinical cannabinoid-based combination drug candidate being developed by Therapix Biosciences for the treatment of infectious diseases, particularly those caused by multidrug-resistant gram-positive bacteria such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).[1][3][5][9][11] The product is a pharmaceutical composition of dronabinol (synthetic Δ9‑tetrahydrocannabinol, THC) with or without palmitoylethanolamide (PEA, CannAmide) plus a selected antibacterial agent, designed to exploit antimicrobial synergy between cannabinoids and conventional antibiotics to restore or enhance antibacterial activity against resistant strains.[1][3][5][9][10][11] In vitro data have demonstrated synergy between several cannabinoids and legacy antibiotics that have lost efficacy, and THX-150 is undergoing non-clinical efficacy and safety evaluation, including in vivo thigh-infection models in mice, under a 505(b)(2) regulatory strategy leveraging prior FDA approval of dronabinol.[1][3][5][9][11]
