This is a combination therapy consisting of **thymalfasin**, **pemetrexed**, and a **platinum agent** (such as cisplatin or carboplatin), primarily investigated or used for the treatment of advanced non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and potentially other solid tumors. \n- **Thymalfasin** (also known as thymosin alpha 1) is a synthetic peptide with immunomodulatory activity; it enhances immune response, particularly T-cell mediated immunity. \n- **Pemetrexed** is a folate antimetabolite that inhibits folate-dependent enzymes involved in nucleotide synthesis, disrupting cell replication, particularly in rapidly dividing tumor cells. \n- **Platinum agents** (cisplatin, carboplatin, etc.) are DNA-damaging cytotoxic agents that form DNA cross-links and inhibit DNA synthesis and repair, leading to apoptosis in cancer cells. \nCombination regimens of pemetrexed with platinum agents are standard in NSCLC[1][3][4][5][6], and limited studies explore the addition of thymalfasin as an immunomodulator. The main routes of administration are intravenous.
