Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TI-Inhalation Powder B refers to a specific formulation variant of Technosphere Insulin (TI) developed by MannKind Corporation. Technosphere Insulin, marketed under the brand name Afrezza, is an ultra-rapid-acting inhaled recombinant human insulin indicated for the treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. The drug utilizes a proprietary dry-powder delivery system where insulin is adsorbed onto Technosphere microparticles composed of the excipient fumaryl diketopiperazine (FDKP). Upon inhalation, the powder dissolves rapidly in the neutral pH of the lung surface, allowing for systemic absorption that mimics the early-phase insulin release seen in healthy individuals. The 'Powder B' designation was specifically used in Phase 1 clinical trials to compare the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profiles of Technosphere Insulin manufactured using insulin from different suppliers.
