Overview

Ti@Mn nanozyme is a novel titanium-oxo cluster (Ti6)-based nanomaterial with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, developed by West China Hospital. Synthesized via a one-pot method using manganese nitrate, titanium isopropoxide, and p-aminobenzoic acid, the nanozyme features single-atom manganese distribution. It exhibits excellent catalase-mimicking activity, enabling efficient scavenging of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and reactive oxygen species (ROS). In preclinical models of glycerol-induced acute kidney injury (AKI), intravenous administration of Ti@Mn nanozymes demonstrated targeted accumulation in the kidneys, rapid renal clearance, and significant therapeutic efficacy, including reduced renal dysfunction, preserved renal tissue integrity, and decreased levels of inflammatory cytokines (such as TNF-alpha and IL-6).
