Overview
Tianhu Capsule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by Sichuan Lele Pharmaceutical Technology Development Co., Ltd. for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and chronic prostatitis. The medication is composed of several herbal ingredients, including *Polygonum cuspidatum* (Huzhang) and *Semiaquilegia adoxoides* (Tiankuizi), which are traditionally used to clear heat, resolve dampness, and dissipate nodules. Pharmacological studies indicate that Tianhu Capsule works by inhibiting the expression of growth factors such as transforming growth factor-beta 1 (TGF-β1) and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) in prostate tissue, which are key drivers of stromal and epithelial cell proliferation. By modulating these pathways, the drug helps reduce prostate volume and alleviate lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) such as urinary frequency, urgency, and weak stream. It is approved in China as a Chinese Patent Medicine.
